How to download tl;dv transcripts (one meeting or all of them)

Short answer: tl;dv lets you save one transcript at a time by copying it from the meeting's Transcript tab, and only if both the meeting owner and you are on Pro or Enterprise. tl;dv does not support bulk transcript downloads or exports (tl;dv: how to download transcripts). To save every transcript, script the tl;dv API (Pro or Business) or use MinuteHaul, which runs on that same API. Disclosure: MinuteHaul publishes this page. Want the video instead? See how to download a tl;dv recording.

1. Download one tl;dv transcript (copy and paste)

  1. Check the plan rule first: tl;dv says both the owner of the meeting and the person downloading must have a Pro or Enterprise plan.
  2. Open the meeting and click the Transcript tab.
  3. Hover over the transcript area and click the copy button. The transcript goes to your clipboard.
  4. Paste it into a doc or text file and save it.

2. Why you can't download all transcripts in the app

tl;dv states: “Right now, we don't support bulk transcript downloads or exports.” Its recording article says the same for recordings, and adds that recording downloads also need editor or admin rights (tl;dv: how to download your recording). So for a whole archive in-app, you're copying meeting by meeting. More on this in how to bulk export tl;dv transcripts.

3. All transcripts via the tl;dv API (Pro or Business)

tl;dv's API has a list meetings endpoint (GET /v1alpha1/meetings) and a get transcript endpoint, authenticated with an API key from Personal Settings > API Keys. tl;dv says API access is available on the Pro or Business plans only, that access depends on the meeting organizer's plan (meetings organized by Free users aren't API-accessible even if shared with you), and that the API is v1alpha1, so endpoints may change (tl;dv: API). Loop over your meetings, fetch each transcript, write a file per meeting. See tl;dv API transcripts.

4. All transcripts with MinuteHaul (no code)

MinuteHaul is the no-code version of option 3. Paste your tl;dv API key into the MinuteHaul web exporter and it builds one ZIP in your browser: a speaker-labeled Markdown transcript per meeting plus an index.csv listing every meeting. It uses tl;dv's API, so it needs Pro or Business (the organizer's plan) and can't reach meetings the API can't. It exports transcripts and metadata, not video. Your 10 most recent meetings are free; then $19 one-time for the whole archive. On tl;dv Free? Read tl;dv bulk export: every option compared for what fits.

FAQ

How do I download a transcript from tl;dv? Open the meeting, go to the Transcript tab, hover over the transcript and click the copy button. tl;dv copies the transcript to your clipboard, and you paste it into a document and save it. There is no file download button for transcripts in tl;dv's help article; it is copy and paste.

Which tl;dv plan do I need to download a transcript? tl;dv says both the owner of the meeting and the person downloading must have a Pro or Enterprise plan. On the Free plan, or for a meeting owned by a Free user, the copy is not available.

Can I download all my tl;dv transcripts at once? Not natively. tl;dv's help center says it does not currently support bulk transcript downloads or exports. Your options are copying each meeting by hand, scripting the tl;dv API, or a tool built on the API such as MinuteHaul.

Does the tl;dv API give me transcripts? Yes. The API has list meetings and get transcript endpoints, but tl;dv says API access is on Pro or Business plans only, depends on the meeting organizer's plan (meetings organized by Free users are not API-accessible), and is an alpha release (v1alpha1).

Does MinuteHaul work on the tl;dv Free plan? No. MinuteHaul exports through the tl;dv API with your own API key, so it needs Pro or Business (the organizer's plan) like the API itself. Your 10 most recent meetings are free to export; then it is $19 one-time for the whole archive.

How is this different from downloading a tl;dv recording? Recordings (video) use a separate download button at the top of the meeting page and also need editor or admin rights. This page is only about transcripts; see the recording guide for video.
