MinuteHaul / Guides / Switch Fireflies to Granola
Switching from Fireflies to Granola without losing your transcripts
Short answer: Granola has no way to import your Fireflies meetings. Its note import only moves notes between two Granola accounts, and Granola says you can't use it to import notes from other apps (Granola docs). So your Fireflies history stays in Fireflies unless you export it. Do that first, keep the files somewhere you control, and then start fresh in Granola.
What doesn't move over
- Transcripts, summaries and action items: no Fireflies-to-Granola import. Granola's import is Granola-to-Granola only (Granola docs).
- Recordings: only Fireflies' account data export includes audio and video (Fireflies guide).
- The other direction does exist: Fireflies publishes a guide for migrating meetings from Granola into Fireflies (Fireflies guide), but not the reverse.
Step 1: export your Fireflies history
- Fastest, no code: MinuteHaul's web exporter (Fireflies source in beta) uses Fireflies' official API and gives you one Markdown file per meeting, an
index.csvand a combined text file. It works on the Free plan; Free's API limit of 500 requests a day means roughly 490 meetings per UTC day (Fireflies API limits; see API key and rate limits). - Everything, including recordings: Fireflies' account data export emails a ZIP within 24 to 48 hours; the link lasts 7 days (Fireflies guide).
- A few meetings: per-meeting download (PDF, DOCX, SRT, CSV, JSON or MD) on Pro or higher (Fireflies guide).
The Fireflies source in MinuteHaul is in beta. It's built on Fireflies' documented API; if anything looks wrong with your account, email us and we'll fix it or refund you.
Step 2: keep the archive searchable
Granola won't hold your old Fireflies meetings, so pick a home for them:
- Markdown files in Obsidian: one note per meeting, full-text search, offline.
- ChatGPT, Claude or NotebookLM: load the combined file and ask questions across years of meetings.
- A folder in your own drive with
index.csvas the table of contents.
Step 3: switch, then decide what to do with Fireflies
- Install Granola and record new meetings there.
- Keep Fireflies on the Free plan for a while if you like: cancelling keeps your meetings within Free plan limits (Fireflies guide).
- Delete Fireflies only once your export is checked: deletion erases everything 30 days later (Fireflies guide). See before you delete Fireflies.
Good to know for later: Granola's own export is a CSV of your notes (title, summary, transcript), emailed within a few hours, with a download link valid for 24 hours and one export per 24 hours (Granola docs).
Export every Fireflies transcript in one ZIP first. Pick Fireflies in the MinuteHaul web exporter (beta). It uses Fireflies' official API from your browser and works on the Free plan: one Markdown file per meeting, an index.csv and a combined all-transcripts.txt. Your 10 most recent meetings are free. Buy unlimited: $29 one-time with a 14-day money-back guarantee.

FAQ
Can Granola import my Fireflies meetings? No. Granola's note import only works between two Granola accounts; Granola says it can't import notes from other apps or platforms.
How do I keep my Fireflies transcripts when switching to Granola? Export them before you switch: Fireflies' account data export (ZIP in 24 to 48 hours), per-meeting downloads on Pro, or an API export such as MinuteHaul's web exporter (Fireflies source in beta), which builds one ZIP of Markdown files plus a CSV index.
Will I lose my Fireflies meetings if I cancel? Not by cancelling. Fireflies says cancelled accounts move to the Free plan and keep meetings within Free plan limits. Deleting the account erases data after 30 days.
