Export your Fireflies meetings before you cancel
Short answer: download what you need while your paid plan is still active. Fireflies says per-meeting downloads need a Pro plan or higher (Fireflies guide), so once you drop to Free the Download button is disabled. Fireflies' full account data export is offered to all users (Fireflies guide), but it takes 24 to 48 hours, so request it a few days before your renewal date. For files you can use today, MinuteHaul's web exporter pulls every transcript through Fireflies' API into one ZIP (beta).
Checklist before you cancel or downgrade
- Request the account data export now. Fill in Fireflies' data request form and approve the confirmation email from fred@fireflies.ai. The ZIP has transcripts and summaries as TXT, audio (MP3), video (MP4, if recorded), attendee details and JSON metadata. The link lasts 7 days, so download it as soon as it arrives.
- Pull the meetings you need in a usable format. The data export gives TXT files. If you want Markdown files with speakers and timestamps, a CSV index you can sort, or one combined file for ChatGPT, Claude or NotebookLM, run a bulk export through the API.
- Grab recordings you'll want to rewatch. Video is in the data export if it was recorded; on Pro and above you can also download MP4 or MP3 per meeting.
- Check the count. Compare the number of files with the number of meetings you see in Fireflies before you cancel.
- Then cancel.
Bulk export through the API before your plan ends
Paid plans have higher API limits than Free: Pro allows 60 requests per minute and 5,000 per day, and Business and Enterprise pool 60 per minute per paid seat with no daily cap. Free is 30 per minute and 500 per day (Fireflies API limits). An export takes about one request per meeting, so a large archive goes faster before you downgrade.
- Copy your API key from Integrations, then Fireflies API (Fireflies docs).
- Open the MinuteHaul exporter with Fireflies selected, paste the key, and click Start export.
- Save the ZIP:
transcripts/(one Markdown file per meeting, optionally with Fireflies' overview, action items and keywords),index.csvandall-transcripts.txt.
Prefer code? The transcripts query returns up to 50 meetings per call; page with skip (Fireflies API docs):
curl -s https://api.fireflies.ai/graphql \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
--data '{"query":"{ transcripts(limit: 50, skip: 0) { id title date sentences { speaker_name text start_time } } }"}'
Already downgraded?
You can still request the account data export, which Fireflies offers to all users, and the API still works within the Free plan's limits. See how to download Fireflies transcripts on the Free plan.
Get every Fireflies transcript as Markdown + CSV in one ZIP. Pick Fireflies in the MinuteHaul web exporter (beta). It uses Fireflies' official API from your browser and works on the Free plan. Your 10 most recent meetings are free; unlimited is $29 one-time with a 14-day refund.
FAQ
What happens to my Fireflies downloads if I downgrade to Free? Fireflies says downloading transcripts, summaries and recordings requires a Pro plan or higher, so the Download button is disabled on Free. The account data export and the API remain available.
How far ahead should I request the Fireflies data export? At least two days before your plan ends: Fireflies says it takes 24 to 48 hours after you approve the confirmation email, and the link is valid for 7 days.
Can I export all Fireflies meetings at once? Yes. The account data export returns one ZIP with all meetings. Through the API, MinuteHaul exports every meeting into one ZIP of Markdown files plus a CSV index; the 10 most recent are free.
