MinuteHaul / Guides / Fireflies free plan 3-transcription limit

Fireflies free plan stuck at 3 transcriptions? Here is the fix

Short answer: Free accounts that signed up on or after September 1, 2026 get 3 meeting transcriptions by default. Turn on Auto-join calendar meetings in Settings and Fireflies removes the cap (Fireflies help center). The “Only when I invite fred@fireflies.ai” option does not count. Accounts created before Sept 1, 2026 keep their old limits.

Why you hit the limit

How to unlock unlimited transcriptions on Free

  1. In the Fireflies web app, open Settings from the Home page.
  2. In Meeting Settings, switch Auto-join calendar meetings ON.
  3. In the dropdown pick All meetings with web-conf link, Only meetings that I own or Only meetings with teammates. Do not pick Only when I invite fred@fireflies.ai; Fireflies says that option does not support unlimited transcriptions.

Steps from the Fireflies help center. Fireflies says unlimited transcripts also apply to the Chrome extension for Google Meet, the mobile app's Record Audio and shared bot meetings once Auto-join is on.

What “unlimited” does not include

Unlimited covers the raw transcript text. Smart Summaries, action items and analytics still use your plan's AI credits (Fireflies). And on Free, the per-meeting Download button needs Pro or higher (Fireflies download guide), so your transcripts live inside Fireflies unless you export them another way.

The trade-off: Auto-join means the bot joins every call

Auto-join puts the Fireflies bot in the meetings your filter matches. If that is not acceptable for your clients, the alternatives are paying for a plan, inviting Fred to the few meetings that matter (3 by default), or moving to another tool: see Fireflies alternatives.

Keep a copy of your Free plan transcripts

If you are leaving Fireflies or just want your notes in Notion, Obsidian or ChatGPT, you can pull them out through Fireflies' API, which works with a Free plan API key: see download Fireflies transcripts on the Free plan.

Get every Fireflies transcript as Markdown + CSV in one ZIP before you cancel. Pick Fireflies in the MinuteHaul web exporter (beta). It uses Fireflies' official API from your browser and works on the Free plan: no request form, no 48-hour wait. Your 10 most recent meetings are free; every meeting is $19 one-time with a 14-day refund. Export all my Fireflies meetings: $19

The Fireflies source in MinuteHaul is in beta. It's built on Fireflies' documented API; if anything looks wrong with your account, email us and we'll fix it or refund you.
