How to export Fireflies transcripts to Google Docs

Short answer: Fireflies has a native Google Docs integration. Connect it under Integrations and Fireflies saves each meeting's summary and (if you switch it on) full transcript as a Google Doc in a Fireflies Meetings folder in your Drive (Fireflies: integrate Google Docs). For older meetings, use Push past meetings. If you want your whole archive as plain files instead, export them and upload to Drive. Disclosure: MinuteHaul publishes this page, and for most people the native integration is the first thing to try.

1. The native Fireflies Google Docs integration

  1. In Fireflies, open Integrations, search Google Docs and click it.
  2. Click Connect, sign in with the Google account that owns the Drive, and click Continue to let Fireflies create and manage Google Docs.
  3. Under Meeting Output Preferences, Save Meeting Summary is on by default. Turn on Save Meeting Transcript to get full transcripts.
  4. Click Create a sample summary to test, then save the configuration.

Files land in Fireflies Meetings > Summaries and Fireflies Meetings > Transcripts; Fireflies says you can't change that destination, only move files afterwards. Team admins need admin access for team-wide setup, and filtering which meetings sync (Integration Rules) is Business or higher. The article doesn't name a plan for the basic integration itself. Older meetings: Push past meetings

From the Google Docs integration page, click Push past meetings, pick the last 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days or a custom date range, choose Meetings I attended, Meetings I organized or joined or All my meetings, and click Push. You need a saved configuration first. One caveat: the same Fireflies article's FAQ says “Fireflies only saves meetings that occur after the integration is set up,” which contradicts the Push past meetings section. Try a short range first and check your Drive before relying on it for a full backfill.

Prefer files in Drive? The Google Drive integration

Fireflies' separate Google Drive integration saves transcripts as PDF, DOCX, JSON, CSV or SRT files (optionally with timestamps and speaker labels) into a Fireflies Transcripts folder, and it can also save summaries and recordings. Fireflies says saving the transcript is available on all plans; it also has Push past meetings (Fireflies: integrate Google Drive).

2. One meeting at a time: download, then upload

Open the meeting, click the Download icon at the bottom center, choose Transcript and a format (PDF, DOCX, SRT, CSV, JSON or MD), and download. Fireflies says downloads are available on Pro plans and higher (Fireflies: download transcripts). Upload the DOCX or MD file to Drive and open it with Google Docs. Fine for a few meetings, slow for hundreds.

3. The account data export (everything, slowly)

Fireflies supports a full data export for all users on request: fill in its data request form, approve the confirmation email, and within 24 to 48 hours you get a link (valid 7 days) to a ZIP with audio, video if available, transcripts and summaries as TXT, and metadata as JSON (Fireflies: export your account data). You can upload the TXT files to Drive, but they arrive as plain text, not Docs. More in export your Fireflies meetings before you cancel.

4. The whole archive as files with MinuteHaul (beta), then into Google Docs

If you'd rather not grant Fireflies write access to your Drive, or you want a portable copy that doesn't depend on your Fireflies plan, pick Fireflies in the MinuteHaul web exporter. It calls Fireflies' official API from your browser with your API key and builds one ZIP: a Markdown transcript per meeting, an index.csv of every meeting and a combined all-transcripts.txt. It works on the Free plan, within Fireflies' API limits (Fireflies API: limits). The Fireflies source is in beta: it is built on Fireflies' documented API, and if anything looks wrong with your account, email us. Your 10 most recent meetings are free; then $19 one-time for the whole archive.

Then get the files into Google:

  1. One Markdown file as a Google Doc: in Google Docs, click File > Open > Upload and pick the .md file. Or upload it to Drive, right-click it and choose Open with > Google Docs (Google: use Markdown in Docs).
  2. Many files at once: unzip, then upload the folder to Drive. Google says .md files open in Google Docs in Markdown mode and stay .md files, so they don't count as converted Docs until you save a copy (Google: view and edit .md files in Docs).
  3. The meeting list: in Google Sheets, File > Import, choose index.csv and pick Create new spreadsheet (Google: import data sets).

FAQ

Does Fireflies integrate with Google Docs? Yes. In Fireflies, open Integrations, search Google Docs, click Connect and authorize your Google account. Fireflies then saves meeting summaries (on by default) and, if you turn on Save Meeting Transcript, full transcripts as Google Docs in a Fireflies Meetings folder in your Drive.

Can I send old Fireflies meetings to Google Docs? Fireflies' Google Docs article documents Push past meetings: pick the last 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days or a custom date range, choose which meetings, and click Push. The same article's FAQ also says past meetings are not saved, so test it on a short range first and check your Drive.

Which Fireflies plan do I need for the Google Docs integration? The Google Docs article does not name a plan for the basic integration; it says Integration Rules (filtering which meetings sync) need Business or higher. The separate Google Drive integration says saving transcripts is available on all plans. Downloading a single transcript from the meeting page needs Pro or higher.

What is the difference between the Google Docs and Google Drive integrations? Google Docs creates editable Google Docs files. Google Drive saves files in a format you choose (PDF, DOCX, JSON, CSV or SRT) and can also save recordings.

Can I import Markdown transcripts into Google Docs? Yes. Google's help says you can upload a Markdown file in Docs with File > Open > Upload, or upload it to Drive and choose Open with > Google Docs. A CSV index can be imported into Google Sheets with File > Import.

Does MinuteHaul export Fireflies to Google Docs directly? No. MinuteHaul's Fireflies source (beta) builds a ZIP in your browser with one Markdown file per meeting, an index.csv and a combined text file. You upload those to Drive yourself. 10 most recent meetings free, then $19 one-time.
